May 24 Tornado Damage - Update #2

Update #2 - 8 a.m. - May 25, 2011

As of 8 a.m., WFEC crews are working on restoring power to the Cashion substation. Efforts are being focused in this area, with plans to have this site restored for service by mid-morning to noon. The Canna substation,  located in the Concho and Calumet area, has been completely destroyed. Service to the Hinton substation was restored during the early morning hours on Wednesday.

Update #1: 9:30 p.m. - May 24

As of this time, three substations remain without service in the WFEC service territory. These include Hinton, Cashion and Canna. Transmission lines and structures are down in the vicinity of these substations. The Canna substation, which was just recently put into service in the Concho & Calumet area, was completely destroyed in the storm passing through the area on Tuesday afternoon.

WFEC has received damage to its transmission system in several areas of the state. Numerous substations are currently without power in certain areas. One substation has also been destroyed.

Emergency Communications

 Information will be posted in this location within the WFEC Media Center should problems exist due to the predicted winter storm that is expected to affect much of the state, beginning Monday, Jan. 31. Should substantial outages occur within the WFEC service territory, this information will be updated as new details become available.
