WFEC Manager Earns Recognition

Mike Meason, manager of Technical Services at Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC), was recently honored as the 2017 Cybersecurity Professional of the Year by the Energy Sector Security Consortium, Inc. (EnergySec). This award was presented last week during EnergySec’s 13th Annual Security and Compliance Summit, hosted in Anaheim, California.

Right-of-Way Maintenance Vital

WFEC’s right-of-way easements establish the right to remove trees and other obstructions from the right-of-way, as well as granting rights to access, inspect, repair and maintain transmission lines. Maintaining adequate distances between transmission lines and trees, or other growth and structures, is critical to public safety and reliable electricity supply to customers.

WFEC crews are making repairs across the service territory following a strong thunderstorm system that moved across the service territory Friday and Saturday.

WFEC Solar Ribbon Cutting Event

WFEC hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony recently at the Tuttle Solar Farm to recognize the 18 new solar installations around the state, including community solar and utility-scale solar sites, all of which will be owned and maintained by WFEC.

Repairs continue from ice storm

WFEC crews, along with contract crews, continue to repair damaged and downed transmission lines, including 41 structures that are located on the same line.
