New Mexico Cooperatives Join WFEC

A beneficial, yet historic event, has increased the membership of Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) to allow for the addition of four New Mexico cooperatives. The long-awaited regulatory approvals were received recently following several years of talks and negotiations. WFEC has only added new members one other time, nearly 40 years ago, in the history of WFEC, which was formed in 1941.

WFEC Signs Wind Farm Agreement

TradeWind Energy, LLC and Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) announced they have entered into a long-term renewable energy purchase agreement that will bring economic development and new jobs to Kiowa and Washita counties in Oklahoma. The Rocky Ridge Wind Project will deliver clean, low cost electricity to WFEC member customers in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and New Mexico.

WFEC & OACD Partner Together to Sponsor Awards

Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) and the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts (OACD) have announced that they will again partner together in presenting the WFEC Conservation Youth Awards. These awards will go to the winners of the OACD poster, essay and speech contests at the district and state level.

Area Schools Tour Blue Canyon Wind Farm for Earth Day

Over 500 area students and teachers visited and toured the Blue Canyon Wind Farm over April 21 and 22, in recognition of Earth Day. Students had a chance to see the majestic wind turbines up close as their buses traveled over the roadways of this wind energy project near Lawton.
