WFEC Approves Membership Request from Four NM Cooperatives

WFEC has approved a request for membership from four New Mexico distribution cooperatives. Final consent is dependent on Rural Utilities Service (RUS) support, as well as regulatory approvals in New Mexico and Texas. It is hopeful that these approvals will be received by the end of this summer.

WFEC Board Officers Elected for 2010-2011

Incumbents were returned as officers for the WFEC Board of Trustees during the 2010 Annual Meeting, hosted in April 16 at the cooperative’s Anadarko headquarters.

Progress Slowed Due to Melting Ice, Then Fully Restored

Service was finally restored to one of the heaviest hit areas in southwest Oklahoma, about a week after the destructive ice storm crippled many portions of the state. WFEC crews and distribution cooperative crews worked in adverse conditions to repair service as quickly as possible.

WFEC crews are working around-the-clock to restore power throughout their service territory following the destructive ice storm that certainly made its mark on a large portion of Oklahoma starting Jan. 28.

Bob Orme CT Units Officially Dedicated by WFEC Board

A dedication ceremony was hosted Aug. 21, 2009 for the new Bob Orme Combustion Turbine (CT) Units, located on the east grounds of the WFEC heaquarter’s complex in Anadarko. This capacity expansion project, which will be used primarily for peak demand, will provide an additional 145 megawatts (MW) of natural gas-fueled electricity generation.
